The freshman team lost a battle against DP on Friday that went to extra innings. The Dons got on the board first when Zach Torres scored off a single, a steal, and a throwing error by the DP shortstop. DP came back in the bottom of the 1st, scoring three runs off a walk and three hits. In the 2nd inning the Dons scored three more runs to take back the lead. Evan Smith and Toby Minehan both drew walks, and Pete Ghersen and Zach Torres knocked in the runs. Settling down after a tough 1st inning, Evan Smith went to work on the mound and shut out DP for the next 3 innings. In the bottom of the 5th, Miles Waters took over on the mound. DP plated two runs in that inning off a hit, an error, and a sac fly, to take the lead 5-4. In the top of the 6th, the Dons tied it up again after Miles Waters reached base with a hit, Diego Ochoa moved him to 2nd, and Pete Ghersen reached on a throwing error by the DP shortstop which allowed Miles to score.
The game remained tied at 5-5 until the bottom of the 8th, when a lead off double by DP, followed by a base hit, gave DP the walk-off win.
