Dons Freshman Beat Ventura Again - Dons 10 Ventura 4

The Dons completed a three game sweep of Ventura Friday.  Tanner Guerra started on the mound and threw 6 great innings, allowing just 2 hits and no earned runs.  The Dons scored first in the bottom of the 1st inning when Johnny Brontsema and Toby Minehan walked and were driven in by Jason Jimenez and Connor McManigal.  Ventura came back with a run in the top of the 2nd, but in the bottom of the 2nd the Dons got 2 more when Jason hit a single and then Michael Day and Connor McManigal hit back to back doubles.  The score remained 5-1 Dons until the bottom of the 4th inning, when Toby Minehan hit a single, Jason Jimenez reached on an error, and then Michael Day hit a single to load the bases.  With the bases loaded, Tanner Guerra crushed a fast ball over the left field fence for a GRAND SLAM!  After a Ventura pitching change, the Dons continued to work.  Zach Torres walked and later stole home on a pass ball, to make the score 10-1 after 4 innings.  Ventura scored twice more in the 5th inning and added one more in the 7th, but it was too little too late.  Dons get the season sweep, winning convincingly 10-4.
